85 Degrees and Sunny

April 29, 2008 · 1 Comment

For the past six months or so I’ve been asking God to show me what to do with this passion I have for church planting. I’m not in a place to plant churches myself, yet the feeling remains that I need to work towards seeing nationals plant churches in their countries.

This past week I spent four days at a Church Planter’s Conference in Orlando, FL talking to people about Vision Nationals and working on strengthening the relationships we have there. During one break I was sitting on the grass attempting to get some color on my sun-deprived legs and I realized that this is my piece of the puzzle right now. This is where I fit, where I’m gifted, what I love to do. I’m not in a place to plant a church myself, but as I work for Vision Nationals, talk to people about church planting, hear stories of what God is doing all over the world, and share the stories of what God is doing in India, Thailand and Nepal through Vision Nationals…I am working towards the goal. I am working towards my passion.

Promoting ministry and raising funds is a relational process…that’s what God also showed me while I was tanning on the lawn…and if I’m going to be of help to Vision Nationals then I need to be in it for the long haul. I need to build relationships with people, and through those relationships God will provide the money we need to reach India and the world with the gospel. It’s a time consuming process…

So I’m here. I will stay in this place, in this ministry, working with Vision Nationals until God moves me somewhere else. I’m a creature of change. I like change. So it’s weird to hear me say it…but I know that this is what God has for me. And so until further notice…I’ll be working with Vision Nationals!

Of Mountain Springs and Spring Rolls

April 17, 2008 · Leave a Comment

This past weekend I spent time with Chris and Dema Weil of Mountain Springs Church in Colorado Springs. Chris and Dema are the ambassadors for Vision Nationals at their church, and it was awesome meeting them, sharing about the ministry, and eating Dema’s wonderful spring rolls and Thai curry!!! She even sent me back to Robbie and Stef’s house in Boulder with nearly a dozen hand-made spring rolls and the remains of the curry! Two feasts in one weekend! Thank you, Jesus!

It’s been great to connect with people, share the ministry and watch God crate connections where there were none before. This weekend I’ll be heading off to Orlando again to attend (and hopefully speak at!) the Exponential Church Planter’s Conference. Pray that God brings along the right connections, works in the details and that I will be sensitive to the Holy Spirit.
