The First Mini-Film!!!

January 27, 2009 · 2 Comments

The learning curve is on the upswing! I have finally finished the first VN mini-film. However, my technical skills are still in need of some sharpening. It seems I can not figure out how to embed a vimeo video directly on to my blog…So you will have to check it out on Vimeo!

Much of what I do for Vision Nationals involves communicating with people who we are and what we do as a ministry. So…before embarking on my most recent Asia travels I purchased a small video camera with the intention of capturing parts of Vision National’s ministry and putting together short films that communicate visually what Vision Nationals is doing throughout Asia.

I was pretty nervous considering I’ve never really used a video camera and I’m not super technological (ie: how the heck do I edit random shots into a coherent whole). It was all overwhelming, but I felt that it would be a very powerful medium for communicating about the ministry.

So I prayed alot as I shot footage, asking God to help me take footage I could actually use when I got back to states. And God is Good!

I’ve spent the past few months fighting technical problems, installing iMovie (Mac’s film editing program), and watching video tutorials to learn how to create a movie. So here you have it! My first finished project! It happens to be on Mercy Mission Home for Children, VN’s new orphanage in Nepal, because that ended up being the most useful footage I had.

What a learning experience this was! I hope to hone my flim making skills in the future and put together some more vignettes on Vision Nationals. Thanks for watching!

A Delightful Year

January 3, 2009 · Leave a Comment

Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart. Psalm 37:4

Kathmandu

Thamel District: Kathmandu

Naturally, I have been rather introspective these past few weeks. Thinking back on the year and marveling at all the details that came together, all the places I traveled, all the new friends I met from all over the globe.

Instead of rehash it all here, I’m going to copy some friends of mine and direct you to some posts that highlight this past year:

Last year I rang in the New Year in Paris. Then I returned back to Seattle to begin working for Vision Nationals which took me to Florida, Texas, Minnesota, Colorado and Washington throughout the year. I ran a half-marathon in May, and got laser sugery on my eyes in August. Then I ended the year traveling through Nepal, Thailand and India with one of my dearest friends Sally. Returning to the states a week before the craziness in Bombay and the Bangkok airport (Thanks Jesus!), I rested at home for Christmas with my whole family!

I am overwhelmed by the blessings Christ has given me this past year. So different than how I would have orchestrated my life, yet so precisely what I needed (and even wanted, though I couldn’t have know it). God is faithful to keep His promises. Delight yourself in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart…
